What To Do If You Got a Idaho Speeding Ticket

Remain calm and stay in the car.  The worst thing you can do is to start arguing with the police officer.  The officer will ask you for your driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance.  If you think that you have been treated badly, you can always file a complaint with the Idaho State Police.  You do have the right to ask for identification and you should.  If it is an unmarked car and you are not sure that it is a real police officer, you can call 911 to confirm. If you have a weapon in your car, you should notify the officer immediately – do not reach for the weapon.

The trooper that issues you the citation will explain to you where and when you are to appear.  In case you forget what the trooper says, the information will also be printed or written on the back of the copy of the citation. You have the option of either paying your fine without a court appearance or, if you feel you have been wrongly accused, you can appear on your court date and plead your case.
