Idaho is a member of the Driver’s License Compact, which means that
violations from Idaho as well as other States and Canada is reported to
the Idaho DMV and is contained on your Idaho Driving Record.
When you are convicted of a traffic violation, points are assigned to
your Idaho Driving Record. The amount of points assigned for your
traffic violation is predetermined and will depend on the severity of
the violation. Once these points are assigned to your Idaho
Driving Record, they will remain there for 3 years or until you
successfully complete an Idaho Defensive Driving course. The
accumulation of too many points on your Idaho Driving Record will
result in suspension or revocation of your driver’s license.
Also contained on your Idaho Driving Record is personal information
such as your name, address, social security number and more. For
this reason, your Idaho Driving Record is considered privileged
information and is not released to third parties without your written
consent, unless the request for your Idaho Driving Record is made
by:
- Public Safety/Vehicle Operation
- Transportation Facilities
